Cemetery Inspections and Plot Maintenance
30th of September, 2026
INSPECTION REVIEW AND MAINTENANCE VISIT Wednesday 30 September 2026
The Cemetery Committee conducts periodic inspections to ensure that all graves comply with the Cemetery Policy and are maintained to a high standard of care. These inspections help to preserve the dignity, appearance, and safety of the cemetery, while also helping to ensure the health and safety of visitors and contractors.
To assist us in maintaining the cemetery to these standards, we kindly ask all plot holders to observe the following requirements:
- Please do not place any items outside the memorial stone or memorial plinth.
- Flowers and plants must be kept on the memorial plinth. The only exception is one flower vase, which may be placed beside the memorial where the plot is situated on a lawn area.
- Items on pathside plots must remain within the boundaries of the memorial stone and must not extend onto the pathway or surrounding area.
- Woodland plots must remain free of pots, loose ornaments, and other artificial items, in keeping with the natural character and appearance of the woodland setting.
- Lanterns, solar lights, and illuminated ornaments of any kind are not permitted.
Removal of Non-Permitted Items
As part of the inspection process, the Cemetery Committee may remove dead flowers and plants, broken or damaged items, and any decorations or other objects that are not permitted under the Cemetery Policy.
The removal of such items is necessary to help maintain the appearance and dignity of the cemetery and to ensure that pathways, grassed areas, and other parts of the cemetery remain safe and accessible for visitors, contractors, and cemetery staff.
Any non-permitted items removed during an inspection will be placed carefully beside the cemetery shed or entrance fence for collection. Removed items will be retained for 30 days. After this period, any items that have not been collected will be respectfully disposed of.
Where non-permitted items are repeatedly replaced after removal, the Cemetery Committee reserves the right to remove and dispose of those items without further notice.
We thank all plot holders for their understanding, cooperation, and continued support in helping us maintain the high standards, dignity, safety, and peaceful environment of the cemetery for everyone.
